Carl Adams
Managing Director

Carl is the founder and Managing Director of Momentum Partners. He has  20 years'  senior management and consulting experience, working with blue chip resources and industrial clients.

Carl has led strategy engagements in the mining, energy, agriculture, property and IT industries. His specific areas of expertise are the organisational and leadership elements required for the successful execution of strategy and business improvement programs.

Carl has a Master of Leadership and Management, a Graduate Diploma in Business and a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours from the Curtin University of Technology where he received the University medal as top graduate. Carl has completed the Australian Institute of Company Director's course, is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and holds First Class Mine Manager's certificates of Competency.

Carl was also one of the 2007 WA Business News '40 under 40' winners, which recognises the top 40 business leaders in Western Australia

David Noort
Director

David is a Director of Momentum Partners specialising in developing and implementing change strategies, business improvement systems, and organic and non-organic growth strategies. His advisory expertise comes from many years of experience in contracting and resource operations in Australia, Europe and Africa. David has completed a number of business improvement and organisational restructuring projects, including the management of a business improvement program for one of the world's largest mining contractors.

David has been involved at management level in advanced resource projects, feasibility studies and construction projects. He has also had executive roles in various service provider companies and has been responsible for the acquisition and establishment of mining, contracting, supply and logistics service operations in Asia, Europe and Africa.

David has a Master of Business Administration graduating with distinctions from the University of Western Australia, and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and holds a Western Australian First Class Mine Manager's certificate of Competency.

Anthony Robinson
Director

Anthony is a Director with ten years' experience as a consultant in Australia, South Africa and South America. His work covers mining, processing, manufacturing, utilities, airlines, service companies and consumer goods. Anthony is a business performance specialist with experience in strategy, organisation design, post-merger integration, performance diagnostics, and key performance-driver analysis. His corporate finance experience includes due diligence, strategic decision-making on market expansion, and capital investment evaluations.

Prior to entering consulting, Anthony spent eight years working in the civil engineering, market research, life insurance, and project delivery fields.

Anthony has an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and a PhD in structural engineering from the University of Melbourne. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (majoring in economics) and received a number of academic awards whilst attending Melbourne University. Anthony worked for five years as a mentor, and tutor to students in engineering and architecture.

In 2000 Anthony led a four-person team in the Australian Financial Review Management Championship, winning both the Australian final in Sydney and the Australasian final in Hong Kong against teams from five nations.

Darren Chua
Director

Darren is a Director with Momentum Partners and has over ten years' experience in strategy consulting. He recently spent six years with Bain & Company as a Manager in its San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices, where he led engagements primarily in its Worldwide Technology and Telecommunications practice. Darren also led project teams in London, Sydney and Melbourne. Prior to joining Bain, he was a consultant with Poynton & Partners, a corporate advisory and management consulting firm in Perth.

Darren's experience covers a broad range of industries including technology and telecommunications, private equity, mining, energy, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. His clients have included several Fortune 500 companies in technology, mining and energy. He has led projects across a wide spectrum of business issues including business growth strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business planning, performance improvement turnarounds, and private equity due diligence.

Darren has a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia. He received First Class Honours in Information Technology Engineering for his thesis on distributed systems.

Colin Roberts
Associate Director

Colin is a resources lawyer, international commercial and investment arbitrator, accredited international commercial mediator, adjudicator and expert determiner, with over 35 years of multi-disciplinary resource industry experience. Colin has spent much of his time in the Developing World managing resource projects,  practising resource law, and assessing and mitigating sovereign risk.

Colin directs the LLM programme in International Dispute Management at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. He is a Senior Research Fellow, lecturer of International Arbitration and was formerly Deputy and Commercial Director of the CEPMLP Director of the MBA Programme in Resource Management and leader of the CEPMLP Africa Programme.

Colin originally graduated from the Western Australian School of Mines, and is a Chartered Mining Engineer, a Chartered Petroleum Engineer, and a Chartered Scientist. He also has additional qualifications in Resources Law & Policy (Dundee) and International Commercial Arbitration (London).

Anne-Marie D'Arcy
Associate Director

Anne-Marie specialises in building people, cultural, and communication capability within organisations. With more than ten years' experience in the resources, engineering, construction, professional services and media sectors, Anne-Marie offers expertise in communications strategy and implementation, cultural change management, leadership and organisational development, project and contract management, and strategic human resources  planning and implementation.

Anne-Marie has a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Industrial Relations), both from from the University of Western Australia. During her MBA studies, Anne-Marie was awarded the UWA Graduate School of Management Award for most outstanding student in Organisational Behaviour and Leadership.

Anne-Marie is accredited in a number of organisational development tools including Barrett's Corporate Transformation, 360º Full Circle Feedback and DiSC, and is a member of Australian Human Resources Institute.

Fiona Brooks
Associate Director

Fiona was previously General Manager at North West Shelf Gas,  and joined Momentum Partners in 2007. During a 15-year career with Shell, she held a range of management positions and led business and process improvement projects for Shell organisations around Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Her enjoyment of, and experience in, building effective business strategies and operational processes led her to management consulting.

Having joined Shell in Melbourne as an engineer responsible for the building and renovation of service stations, Fiona moved through roles in engineering, logistics and natural gas marketing. These roles included developing and implementing North West Shelf Gas's strategy, negotiating domestic gas sales contracts valued over AU$500M and providing consulting services to regional Shell companies to improve order fulfillment, internal service levels agreements and global process convergence.

Fiona holds a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science, both from Melbourne University, from which she graduated top of her course.

Anna Lane
Associate

Anna has broad accounting and consulting experience in the manufacturing, financial services and mining sectors. She specialises in change management, business improvement, business case development, and management reporting.

Anna's consulting and accounting experience was gained while working in senior management roles in Australia and the UK for large accounting and consulting firms. Her commercial experience was gained in the UK while working in management and financial accounting for manufacturing and financial services companies.

Anna has been involved in developing management accounting packages and leading business process and IT system reviews. Her commerce and finance competencies are complemented by change management knowledge, which includes issue resolution, vision and communication plan development, and stakeholder management.

Anna graduated from the University of WA with a Bachelor of Commerce, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst working in audit and insolvency.

Sabina Shugg
Manager Mining

Sabina is a mining engineer and has held senior management positions within the resources sector as well as been involved in a range of mining studies whilst working as a mining consultant for a large Perth firm.

Her expertise includes business improvement (six sigma black belt qualified), mine management and management of technical studies in the resources industry. Sabina was integrally involved with the preparation and delivery of a feasibility study for the largest gold mine in WA.

She has a Mining Engineering degree from Curtin University and is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia. She also holds a West Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. She founded the very active Women in Mining WA Network which has 400 members across WA.

Maree Quinlan
Consultant

Maree Is a Consultant with Momentum Partners. Her career began as a clinical audiologist in Perth, progressing to clinical and marketing management roles in Europe and Japan with the biotech company Cochlear Ltd and with a US medical device start-up. Since returning to Perth, Maree has also gained experience in the not-for-profit sector and consulted on new technology commercialisation. 

Maree has a Bachelor of Applied Science (majoring in Health Science) and a Graduate Diploma of Audiology, both from Curtin University. She also holds Master of Business Administration degree from UWA, for which she received a Director's Letter for academic excellence and Dux-of-Class awards for five subjects, including the 2005 Foundation Capital Prize for Best Student in Management of Technology & Innovation.  In 2006 Maree was part of the UWA postgraduate team that won the State Final of the Boston Consulting Group Strategy Competition.

Edmund Khong
Consultant

Edmund is a Consultant with Momentum Partners and has worked with medium-sized businesses through to large multi-nationals on diverse business improvements and strategy projects. He has developed expertise in financial and operational modelling and strategic analysis. As a management consultant Edmund has worked on a range of projects including:

  • Completing analysis and assisting a multi-national resources company develop and implement over twenty distinct initiatives to embedded strategy into ongoing operations;
  • Assisting the development of a global growth strategy, based on long term supply and demand outlook, to assist a multi-national resource company maintain industry leadership; and
  • Creating a comprehensive excel-based analysis tool that identifies value drivers and strengthens management reporting capability to enhance executive decision-making and improve profitability.

Edmund has a double-degree Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Finance) from Murdoch University, where he received the Vice-Chancellor's Commendation Award for academic excellence, awarded to the top 2% of students and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants' award for the top student in Management Accounting.  Edmund also holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Gabrielle McMeeken
Senior Consultant

Gabrielle specialises in organisational development, incorporating leadership development, culture, transformational change, building team capability, organisational design, and performance management systems.

With more than 14 years' experience with firms in Melbourne and Perth, Gabrielle has conducted diagnosis, developed strategies, and facilitated programs for both SME and multinational companies. Gabrielle has broad industry experience in the mining, health, retail, banking and finance, and public utilities fields.

Gabrielle's pragmatic approach, combined with her ability to work with all key stakeholders, enables sustainable growth that drives the organisation forward while still achieving key business objectives.

Gabrielle holds a Master of Business Administration degree from  the University of Western Australia.

Liam Millar
Senior Business Analyst

Liam is a Senior Business Analyst at the firm. Liam has three years' experience as a consultant in South Africa and has worked in the telecommunications, medical administration, government, distribution, construction, heavy engineering, mining, professional services, commercial retail and wholesale, and private equity fields.

Projects include commercial due diligence, market research and forecasting, financial modelling, cost reduction, pricing strategy development, category management strategy development, product rollout strategy, and system rollout and support.

Prior to entering consulting, Liam spent three years working as a mechanical engineer in business development and pure research into next-generation diesel fuels.

Liam has a degree in Mechanical Engineering with first class honours from the University of Cape Town.

Ga Vin Lee
Senior Business Analyst

Ga Vin Lee is a Senior Business Analyst with Momentum Partners. His consulting experience has included projects in the mining and resources sector, in the areas of cost tracking and forecasting, management reporting, business improvement, value driver analysis and strategic planning.

Prior to his role at Momentum Partners, Ga Vin worked in the education sector as a founder and operations manager of a private college for international students. He also worked in the industrial automation sector as a project engineer and sales engineer in the United States and Australia, working with power utility clients located in the United States, China, South East Asia and Australia.

Ga Vin has a Bachelor of Science (majoring in IT Systems) and a Bachelor of Engineering (majoring in Electrical/Electronic Engineering) graduating with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia.

Claire Wilson
Senior Business Analyst

Claire is a Senior Business Analyst with Momentum Partners. She has experience developing business improvement strategy for a range of companies in the resources, land development and manufacturing industries. Projects include designing a strategy for contractor management, developing decision making models, corporate process design and business planning. Claire has also been involved with cost tracking in the resources industry and with the development of a start-up biotechnology company from market research to capital raising.

Claire has a double degree in Science (majoring in Physics) and Business Administration, from Curtin University, where she graduated with distinction. Claire is a member of the Australian Institute of Management and Australian Institute of Physics and has had scientific journals published. Claire has been awarded a range of academic prizes and scholarships, including the Commonwealth Learning Scholarship in 2004.

Julia Woo
Senior Business Analyst

Julia is a Senior Business Analyst with Momentum Partners. She studied at Curtin University of Technology, where she gained a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Finance) with distinction. She became a member of the Golden Key Honour Society in 2002. Julia is currently completing the CA Program with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.

Prior to joining Momentum Partners, Julia was an Auditor in the Assurance Services Division with the Office of the Auditor General, where she gained experience in auditing financial statements and performance indicators of various state government agencies. She also gained work experience while attending university from Woodside Energy Limited in the Corporate Finance Division and KPMG Perth in the Audit Division.

Spencer Davey
Senior Business Analyst

Spencer is a Senior Business Analyst at Momentum Partners. Prior to working at Momentum, Spencer worked for four years as a Control Systems Engineer. He has worked in various industries including mining, materials handling, manufacturing, and utilities for clients such as Rio Tinto, BHP, Newmont Mines, Midland Brick, and the Water Corporation.

Spencer has spent a significant amount of time on remote sites, in particular the Pilbara region. He has had experience in the design, development, and commissioning of control systems, and technical documentation. Spencer has a Bachelor of Commerce (Investment Finance, Management) and Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) with honours from the University of Western Australia. He was awarded the Orbital Engine Corporation prize for for the best Honours thesis in Mechatronics .

Jessica Crombie
Business Analyst

Jessica is a Business Analyst with Momentum Partners. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Money and Banking, Corporate Finance and Marketing) with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia.

Prior to joining Momentum Partners, Jessica spent four years as a Policy Research Officer with the Department of Treasury and Finance. Over this time Jessica worked predominantly in the Department's Economic Policy Division but also spent a short while in the Government Procurement Business Unit.

Helen Barbour
Business Analyst

Helen is a Business Analyst with Momentum Partners. She has a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Neuroscience and Pharmacology) with First Class Honours, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Western Australia. While at university, Helen was awarded a number of academic prizes, including a Woodside Energy Ltd PhD Excellence Award, and a Company of Biologists Travelling Fellowship to extend her honours project work at University College London.

Prior to joining Momentum Partners, Helen worked in the publishing industry in London as the editor of an academic review journal. She has experience as a research scientist, having held the position of Career Development Fellow with the Medical Research Council at the University of Leicester, UK, and has had her work published in scientific journals.

Gavin Hangchi
Business Analyst

Gavin is a Business Analyst with Momentum Partners, who specialises in financial modelling to assist with long-term strategic planning. Gavin has a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance) and Bachelor of Engineering (majoring in Computer Engineering) graduating with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia.

During university, he gained work experience in Corporate Finance with Azure Capital Pty Ltd, as well as in Information Technology Risk Advisory with Ernst & Young and KPMG. He was also involved in promoting Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering to high schools.

Esther Bliss
Business Manager

Esther was born in Perth and raised in England, graduating from the University of Sunderland with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Communications Studies). Returning to Perth, Esther worked for seven years at the Department of Training as a Senior Policy and Project Officer in Training Resources, gaining valuable skills in contract management and policy development.

Prior to joining Momentum Partners Esther also ran her own successful tourism business in York, WA. During this time Esther was greatly involved with local tourism promotions such as local festivals and  events and was the Operations Manager for the well-known York Jazz festival.

Esther has a strong background in Project Management and operations, including financial and human resources.

Christie Fordyce
Office Administrator

Christie is the Office Administrator at Momentum Partners. Prior to working at Momentum, Christie worked for a corporate travel agency. During this time Christie traveled Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Dubai.

Christie has completed cerfificate 3 in International Retail Sales and has a strong background in Project Management.
