Operational performance is focussed on improving the business outcomes of the core business. It may include financial, safety, environmental and people outcomes. The key question is how can we improve the performance of what we have?
Successful operational performance is usually increased or enhanced under the following circumstances:
- Operational performance objectives are aligned with the vision, and corporate and business unit strategies
- The business is prepared to analyse and accept the drivers of good and bad performance and focuses on the key impact areas
- The company is prepared to invest in developing its skills and capabilities
- Supporting processes, tools and templates are embedded within operations
- Leaders are prepared to ‘walk the talk’
Operational Performance can be delivered in a piece-meal or transformational methodology. Below is an overview of our key operational performance service offerings:
- Operational Performance Programs. As an end-to-end program, we conduct a full economic analysis of the core business to identify the key value drivers of profitability. The whole organisation is widely engaged and involved in the processs to ensure these analytical skills are developed within the organisation. Furthermore, we embed our implementation systems and tools throughout the organisation so that it can continuously improve long after our engagements have completed.
- Operational Performance Methodologies. There are a range of tools and methodologies that can be used to improve the performance of a business. Momentum Partners has developed a range of customised tools and frameworks but also has experience in better known approaches such as Lean and Six Sigma. As well as utilising these tools and methodologies, Momentum Partners can also provide training and certification to improve the Operational Performance capabilities of an organisation.
- Operational turnarounds. In some situations, a business can be haemorrhaging badly. Quick but not ‘knee jerk’ interventions are required to ensure rapid assessment and early cash flow generation.
- Cost leadership. No matter what the prevailing economic conditions, organisations should always remain diligent about their costs whilst maintaining a value focus. Cost leadership comes in many forms and includes benchmarking, peer reviews, cascading KPIs, cost analysis and cost tracking.
- Risk management. Risk is a critical cog in both the strategic and operational environments. Risk management is incorporated into all of Momentum Partner’s Operational Performance work and may include risk assessments; risk workshops; governance processes and the development of risk management processes.
- Post-merger integration. Although PMI planning is often talked about, in practice it is done poorly. Momentum Partners has a comprehensive PMI execution model to ensure synergies, overhead optimisation, talent retention, change management planning, and cultural integration are fully captured and delivered.
